Blackmore Vale

We are a branch of the Embroiderers' Guild in Dorset and we have a large number of members interested in all types of embroidery, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and textile art. We have a bi-annual exhibition in conjunction with Dorset Arts Week. This year is our 25th Anniversary. We hope you enjoy looking at our work and activities during our meetings and workshops.

Retrospective February 2013 - Magical Creatures

We are almost at the end of our retrospective looks at the workshops of the branch. Nothing has been posted about our activities in December 2011/2012 because we always have a buffet style Christmas lunch and work on our UFO's (unfinished objects). January 2013 brought a sudden heavy snowfall the day before our scheduled meeting and in the interests of our members safety, we postponed the day until May of this year - already posted under Darn It, Altered Textiles and Paint, Scrunch, Stitch ..... and so we move on to our meeting on 9 February 2013. This workshop was taught by Sarah Bailey and she is known to our group through our contacts with West Country Embroiderers, of which, like many of us, she is a member. Sarah has also very recently completed a book for the Shire Books series on ecclesiastical embroidery.http://www.shirebooks.co.uk/store/Clerical-Vestments_9780747812210

As it was still so cold outside, we all enjoyed keeping warm and making these delightful Magical Creatures!
