Blackmore Vale

We are a branch of the Embroiderers' Guild in Dorset and we have a large number of members interested in all types of embroidery, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and textile art. We have a bi-annual exhibition in conjunction with Dorset Arts Week. This year is our 25th Anniversary. We hope you enjoy looking at our work and activities during our meetings and workshops.

Warped Imagination

The latest workshop was most eventful - the tutor had a tyre blow out on the way to the venue and a pupil had a sewing machine catch on fire! Beautiful work though! Machined strips = woven magic.

Chairman's Challenge

This workshop was devised by Committee - we made up packs mixed fabrics, ribbons, lace, threads etc. We put all the packs into a black bag and everyone took out 'blind' a pack. Then the stitching began. At the end we all voted by laying down jigsaw pieces, 3 for 1st, 2 pieces for 2nd and 1 for third. It was very successful and it was FREE !!

Weekend Workshop, Exploring Velvet with Angie Hughes, September 2013

Anyone lucky enough to have worked with Angie Hughes will know what a fun and exciting time will be had. Angie has a marvellous sense of humour and her artistic talent is evident in her beautiful creations. She is a patient teacher and is most generous with her time, knowledge and sharing her ideas. Two pieces of her work are shown here amongst these photographs of members work - before and after stages.
